5/5 stars

I was worried that this book was going to be a disappointment. I loved The Martian, but sometimes people only have one good book in them. I loved Artemis.

It’s a hard sci-fi, it’s funny and the settings have been clearly thought of in quite some detail. But where The Martian’s protagonist faces natural disasters, Jazz is mostly responsible for her own plight. She’s smart, witty, incredibly talented and can think herself out of almost anything, but she’s also impulsive and equally capable of thinking herself into the trouble. I find her character endearing and the whole book was hard to put down, taking unexpected turns.

It’s awesome.
